Þórunn is a 2009 born daughter of Gári frá Auðsholtshjáleigu. Gári is a 1st prize son of the amazing Orri, and evaluated with 8.63 in total. He received the Honorary Prize for offsprings in 2011, being father to such amazing horses as Krókur frá Ytra-Dalsgerði (8.74 with 10 for pace), Mídas frá Kaldbak (8.34 as fourgaiter with 9 for tölt, trot, gallop, spirit, and general impression), and Ösp frá Auðsholtshjáleigu (8.47, already mother to two 1st prize offsprings). Þórunn's mother is Regína frá Flugumýri, daughter of the Kjarval frá Sauðárkróki. Regína is a 1st prize mare with 9 for tölt and general impression.
Þórunn is herself evaluated 1st prize with 8.22 in total (8.0 for conformation and 8.37 for ridden abilities with 9 for pace and 8.5 for tölt and spirit). Þórunn also competed a bit with her owners in hobby rider classes and was used as a regular riding horse, too. She has a super friendly character and is easy to ride for everyone with a bit experience.
In the last years she was used as a breeding mare, and has offsprings from Hróður frá Refsstöðum, Apollo frá Haukholtum, Hrynur frá Hrísdal, and currently a foal by Herkúles frá Ragnheiðarstöðum at her side.
Þórunn is now sold pregnant (without the foal by her side) by the fantastic Skýr frá Skálakoti. Skyr is a 1st prize stallion with 8.70 in total with 9 for tölt, trot, spirit, and general impression. 8.48 for conformation, 8.85 for ridden abilitries. This year he received the Honorary Prize for offsprings, having sired horses like Katla frá Hemlu II (8.72), Sesar frá Steinsholti (8.56), and Askja frá Efstu-Grund (8.62).
